Boston held off a spirited comeback attempt from the Dallas Mavericks to win Game 3 of the 2024 NBA Finals 106-98 and take a 3-0 lead. The Celtics' depth proved too much for Dallas, as the Luka-Kyrie duo struggled and the Celtics grounded the Mavs bigs.
Jayson Tatum led the way for Boston with 29 points, while Jaylen Brown added 27. The Celtics' defense was also impressive, holding Dallas to just 43.5% shooting from the field and forcing 15 turnovers.
Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 26 points, but he was inefficient, shooting just 8-of-23 from the field. Kyrie Irving added 21 points, but he also struggled, shooting just 7-of-22.
The Mavericks made a run in the fourth quarter, cutting the Celtics' lead to five points with just over four minutes remaining. However, the Celtics were able to close out the game, hitting their free throws and making key defensive stops.
The Celtics will now have a chance to close out the series in Game 4 on Friday night in Dallas.
